BREAKING NEWS

Police in West Nile have arrested a Uganda Prisons officer who had been on the run after allegedly murdering his supervisors in Kiboga District.

According to West Nile Police spokesperson Josephine Angucia, the suspect, Moses Aguyo, was apprehended in Aru town in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo during a security operation.

Aguyo is accused of fatally shooting the Kiboga Prison deputy officer in charge, Catherine Hope, the third-in-command Bright Akishuri, and Sarah Ayebare, the wife of the officer in charge, on February 23, 2026.

Angucia added that the arrest followed coordinated efforts between police in Arua District and Uganda Prisons officers from both Arua and headquarters. So far, three other suspects — including two of Aguyo’s brothers and his girlfriend — had earlier been arrested and provided key information that led to his capture.
