As AI-generated content becomes harder to distinguish from reality, transparency matters more than ever.

The European Commission has published the second draft of the Code of Practice on marking and detecting AI-generated content and labelling deepfakes.

Developed by independent experts, this voluntary Code aims to help AI providers and deployers meet the transparency requirements of the EU AI Act, including marking and detecting AI-generated images, audio, video, and text.

The transparency rules for AI-generated content will start applying on 2 August 2026.
