According to the degree of salinity, concentration (highly salty) and diluting (weakly salty) seas are distinguished.

For example, in international law, the sea refers to all the world's oceans below the low tide level, including the seabed, underground resources below it, and the air space above the surface of the water.

Examples of such seas are the Mediterranean and the Baltic. Depending on the number of continents whose shores are washed by the sea, internal seas are divided into intercontinental (Mediterranean and Red) and intracontinental (Azov, Yellow, Black).
