Aligning Visions for a Digital Future:
Kenya Reaffirms Strong Support to PAPU
Consul General of the Republic of Kenya in Arusha, Amb. Mohamed Ramadhan Ruwange visits PAPU Tower
The PAPU Secretary General, Dr Sifundo Chief Moyo, and Assistant Secretary General, Mrs Jessica Ssengooba, today held fruitful discussions with the newly-appointed Consul General of the Republic of Kenya in Arusha, Amb. Mohamed Ramadhan Ruwange, who paid a courtesy call following his assumption of duty in February 2026.
The SG congratulated the Consul General on his well-deserved appointment and warmly welcomed him to Arusha and the PAPU Tower. Together with the ASG, they provided a comprehensive briefing on PAPU, covering its historical evolution, membership and current strategic direction.
Key highlights included updates on the Plenipotentiary Conference and its major decisions, the renewed mandates of the SG and ASG, and the Africa Postal Strategy 2026–2030, with its strong emphasis on digitalization and service diversification. The PAPU leadership also outlined the challenges facing the Union and the forward-looking measures being undertaken to address them.
The Consul General expressed appreciation for what he described as an insightful and eye-opening engagement. He reaffirmed Kenya’s continued support to PAPU, acknowledged the expanding role of the postal sector in the digital era, and pledged to support efforts towards harmonizing PAPU’s strategic framework with that of the East African Communications Organization (EACO).
The meeting concluded on a high note, reinforcing a shared commitment to strengthened collaboration and a digitally empowered African postal network.
