Tarangire National Park is known for having one of the largest populations of African elephant in northern Tanzania, with around 2,500 individuals and a growth rate of about 6% per year. These elephants gather in large numbers during the dry season, relying on the Tarangire River for water, as each can consume 100–300 liters daily. For the best viewing experience, visiting during the dry season is recommended.
