THERE IS SCIENCE TO PAINTING! This house looks old doesn't it? Actually, no. It is a beautiful house built in 2012. The problem is that the concrete was not CURED properly so the paintwork is all PRO Painters has undertaken to repair the damage later this year.

Concrete needs a rest period of about 30 days in order to "cure". Excess MOISTURE evaporates from the concrete, strengthening the material during this time. Also the the naturally high alkalinity (opposite of acidity) is reduced as well. This wall tested positive for high alkalinity.

When paint is applied too soon to a new concrete surface, as occurred in this case, excess moisture gets trapped in the concrete and the paint peels off easily. The alkalinity affects the integrity of paint causing it to lose colour and deteriorate, as seen.

So PRO Painters be at work on this house pressure washing, removing mould, applying treatment, fresh primer etc. You will see the vast improvement that restores this beautiful house for years to come.
