Professor Asmerom Legesse’s pioneering and authoritative work on the Oromo Gadaa System was instrumental in preserving and elevating this indigenous African democratic governance system, contributing significantly to its recognition by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. His lifelong commitment to rigorous scholarship and field-based research served not only academia but humanity at large.
