During his dual international debut representing Türkiye Rugby Union (15-a-side), Errol Carter suffered a catastrophic spinal injury that led to multiple emergency surgeries and permanent neurological damage. He is now facing an even greater challenge with a diagnosis of aggressive brain cancer.

As a player and as a friend, Errol has touched everyone around him. His courage, resilience, and unwavering spirit have left a lasting impact on teammates, coaches, and the wider rugby league and rugby union communities.

Despite everything, he continues to fight for his health, his independence, and his future.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the European Rugby League and the wider rugby league community for the incredible support you have shown me over the past three years. Unfortunately, during my tenure, the global environment has posed significant challenges for rugby league, particularly in Europe.

We faced missed opportunities for grassroots growth, for advancing education programs, and most importantly, for supporting the development of European Rugby League. These challenges were deeply felt and serve as a reminder of the work that still lies ahead.

I want to express my gratitude to the European Rugby League board for giving me the platform to contribute, to express myself, and to learn. I sincerely wish the European Rugby League the very best for the future as it continues to navigate these challenges and build upon its foundation.
