From 07 to 17 September, I participated in the workshop « STOP CITY, Istanbul 240 hours ». The purpose was to work on the Stop city notion in Istanbul thinking of Andrea Branzi’s No stop city.
With Ipek, Max, Nico, Özge, and Zeynep we imagined a distopian project which will take place in the future Istanbul city :

SUS (Silent Urban Society)

Welcome to Istanbul, the greatest megapolis of the century. Istanbul is home to more than 36 million people. As the city continues expanding with the immigration problem, peace and silence is nowhere to find. 36 million people are moving, working, living in a cacophony.

That is why we created SUS.
SUS is a rescue plan for all social backgrounds. We present you SUS Pills, recommended by the Health Department. Take your pill with your morning tea or on your way to work. You will experience a great silence. It’s as easy as breathing! Just use your Istanbul Card on any SUS Machine.

For a longer experience, take a moment to enjoy the view in our SUS Room. You can find one in every center. Show your Istanbul Card and you will find peace. SUS Rooms are constructed with the newest technology, designed for absolute silence.

Our last but not least project is SUS Park located in Göktürk, in the middle of the city. Take any bus or metro going to the 3rd Airport and enter the long lost world of silence.You need your daily moment of silence, we can give it to you, so don’t hesitate and enter with us in a more silent world !
