*Hiking in Turkey*

One of the most famous routes in Turkey is the 500km Lycian Way from Fethiye to Antalya. This stunning stretch of coastline is not only beautiful but packed with history. The region was the home of the ancient Lycian people who lived in Anatolia from around 1250–546 BC. They left behind incredible rock tombs which can be found all over the place.

We completed this short section of the Lycian way from Kalkan to Delikkemer Aqueduct. It turned out to be much more adventurous than we thought and involved a lot of scrambling over rocks! Delikkemer Aqueduct was built in the Roman period and stretched 22.5km (!!) to carry water to the ancient city of Patara.

Hiking tips for this route:
* WEAR TROUSERS - luckily it was winter so we had long clothing on but there are so many spikey bushes. Trousers are a must if you value your skin
* Gloves would be helpful - the rocks are really sharp and you do have to climb a bit.
* Sun protection - it's pretty exposed so SPF and hats are a must in summer.
*Watch out for wild boars...

I'd love to come back one day and do a bigger section of this hike!
