Constantin Brancusi was born on this day in 1876. The Guggenheim held the first major museum exhibition of the artist, which consisted of 59 sculptures and 10 drawings and gouaches, at the 1071 Fifth Avenue town house in 1955. Seven of the works, including White Seal, came from Brancusi’s studio in Paris, and many had never previously been shown in the United States. Learn more: http://gu.gg/YuErB
