100+ miles in the saddle today. One of the first production breakfast cereals on Shep’s GP300SE up against my GP300MT which has one of our RK development prototype versions fitted.
VERDICT- Yes yes yes ..These really aren’t boring folks .
RICE KRISPIE’S WHAT A GREAT START TO THE DAY…
Honestly, I had a little reservation after he said he’d tweaked something last Sunday on the production ones.
His message reply is one of the photos !!

Rice Krispie-Drunk Dennis… UPDATE…
The Fun -The Why -The development - The testing - The production process for those 63 that have ordered one .
It’s been a long road getting to this point with our unique exhaust . The aim was to create an exhaust for an automatic Royal Alloy scooter that didn’t sound like any other exhaust on a Royal Alloy automatic scooter.
During the development process the accepted rule book and understanding of a 4 stroke exhaust has been adjusted somewhat. The fast through flow exhausts that exist at the moment all use the same principle to varying degrees - Take the gases - muffle the sound via a perforated tube and DB killers - deaden the sound further wrapping and packing with heat proof material in the chamber - Exit the gases quickly .
Many owners love the loud throaty roar output of these type of aftermarket exhausts.
Some love the constant drone that increases with your riding speed ( Loud pipes saves lives etc…)
Ours is for those that are on the other side of the coin. It has none of the above characteristics.
We wanted something totally different in sound output, much more akin to the interest levels and enjoyment of our two strokes of old . We were after an activity and interest, something that makes you smile while you’re riding .
We have achieved a highly active exhaust that does just that .
It’s not a 100% replication of the 2 stroke clubman sound output as we are dealing a 4 stroke engine cycle , but it’s closer than anything out there by a country mile , it’s fun interesting and makes you smile.
The unique construction and internals cleverly manages the exiting gas flow . The back pressures change as you ride through the acceleration and deceleration range as does the sound output. It’s a pleasure to have on your scooter and equally as good to be behind on a ride out.
As with many things that we create the process of this exhaust has been a learning curve and a lengthy one.
Many variations of it were tried and tested . Our good friends at Los Motos Locos scooter group visited us over a year ago and test rode several versions for us. This gave rise to a new variant “The Drunk Dennis” which is a louder version with similar activity levels. Truth be told we had previously discarded this output variant as being a bit much for what we were going for.
It was pretty easy for Shep to recreate one whilst the testing group were here with us . Some of you (26)have opted for the louder version DD 75 version.
The original RK70 ( Rice Krispie version ) was sent over to USA to an experienced scooter racer/ rider for endurance testing . This rider was part of a team of riders who were doing the “Cannon Ball run” race across America with a number of Vespa GTS riders .
That’s where things started to get interesting !!! - ??
Our exhaust passed Endurance race test - scrutiny and was noticed by many a rider .
Approaches started to come to us from Vespa GTs riders and aftermarket exhaust manufacturers. Dialog occurred over many months with various parties on all sorts of ideas .
We even took some professional guidance from scooter parts specialists and investigated design rights and ownership legalities.
One company owner (Scooter Center- Germany) visited us on Koh Samui and experienced the Rice Krispie for himself. Lots was discussed and we took on board all the advice he offered from being part of the industry for 30 years .
We’ve learned through a little experience ourselves and listened to what was explained to us about the scooter aftermarket parts industry not generally being a nice place to operate in .There is no regulation, no control, many parts makers jump on a good idea developed by others and try to replicate and make it cheaper. Replication of our VCR lowering kits has happened to us already. ( 5 different ones now exist globally that we know of ) it’s undoubtedly an odd industry ! Disheartening and certainly does make you think twice about investing heavily into any particular product idea .
We were assured in no uncertain terms that this exhaust experience will be replicated by people in the aftermarket parts exhaust industry. Someone will lazer cut one up and see how it’s done.
His endorsement statement after spending a few days living with the Royal Alloy GPMT300 Rice Krispie was startling and very satisfying to hear .
He suggested NOT release it out to the rider market until we have a stock pile of them that exceeds initial orders. The number suggested was 300 !! This was unfortunately totally unachievable for little old us . We did spend months looking at outsourcing parts of the manufacturing process to no avail . We’ve settled on a goal of creating 100 units.
This is where we are trying to get to now .
Our window of opportunity is small . We are well aware of what could and will likely happen. We’ve put a lot of time effort and money into this project .
We know some owner/ followers are impatient. It’s in the scooterists DNA to be that way.
Honestly folks if you can’t wait for one - I have zero issues with any owner who notifies us to cancel.
We really have to look at the bigger picture for ourselves on this part .
We’ve looked at every angle with this thing, had many meetings and lots of beer fueled discussions over the past months .
We’ve been manufacturing these now on and off for 4-5 months whilst trying to keep all of our other parts flowing. We are getting there slowly. Some are here finished awaiting final polish . 80+ are at different stages of production. Sheps goal is get 30 more to this stage in the next 4 weeks. Sounds easily achievable if he didn’t have to do me 40 more Ally welded seat bases , rear indicator brackets , stainless stock items, Tardis plates etc..
We will see where he gets to and I’ll update again .
We have tried enlisting help , but it never seems to work out somehow.
It will be brilliant for us to get the list done and despatched too . The amount of money tied up in this operation is frustrating .
How people even think of going into a larger scale manufacturing business is mind boggling. (The Royal Alloy China factory visit blog to come folks !!! That’s proper scale !!!)
We will manage any new exhaust orders initially from the stock that we are trying to create as we go.
I am not accepting new orders now, Not because I’m being awkward. The price of £536.00 including delivery was set way before Mr Trumps war which has affected fuel and freight postage costs! As many know this is always a large part of the price of our parts from here.(These exhausts are not light) in-fact they are equivalent to the one that weighs as much a small baby that you take off .
Have a great safe riding week.Following
Enjoy the ride
