Despite these obstacles, the team and I managed to achieve most of the goals we set for ourselves and I am very proud of what we have achieved. Another logistics puzzle was recently solved by FLS Projects Singapore, together with Tschudi Logistics Sweden, and FLS Projects Thailand. This time we chartered an AN-124 to airfreight a core engine for a power plant construction project from Gothenburg, Sweden, to Utapao, Thailand.
The project had tight timelines - an idle to aircraft had to be avoided at each airport at any cost. Our perfect synchronization of manpower, equipment and paperwork started with a faultless night loading operation, despite a freezing cold temperature of -10°C, in Sweden and finished with offloading the cargo from the aircraft in Thailand within just 1 day.
As well as chartering the aircraft, FLS arranged for mobile cranes to place the transport skid delicately on the ramp before the core engine was precisely positioned. Once aligned, a pulley system reeled the cargo to its final orientation in the aircraft before it was lashed down with chains.
The initial apprehensions of our client (it was their first air charter) were appeased by clockwork ex*****on; on schedule and without incident.
