Wat Jed Yod

The construction of Wat Jed Yod began in 1844 but was only completed a century later. It also has a namesake temple in Chiang Mai, but they are quite different. While Wat Jed Yod one of Chiang Mai has a brick chedi with beautiful stucco decorations, here the chedi has no stucco, is painted in white but is complete. Before entering the main hall, you go through a sort of veranda richly decorated with floral themes and ceiling and an astrological fresco. Then you arrive in the main building which houses a large golden sitting Buddha with a very friendly expression on His face surronded by colorful murals. Bothgateway doors are also beautifully painted. Behind the main building stands the white chedi with seven golden arrows (Jet Yod in Thai means seven peaks)
whose shape is similar to the incomplete brick chedi of Wat Jed Yod in Chiang Mai.

Open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Wat Jed Yod is a temple and when you visit a temple in Thailand there are some rules to know and follow :
- Dress properly (knees and shoulders should be covered)
- Take off your shoes when entering the buildings
- Be quiet
- Don't hug or kiss
- Don't point your feet to Buddha's image
- Don't smoke
