WHY TECHERS ARE LEAVING THAILND?

Thailand is a popular destination for many teachers venturing into the ESL industry. The country is well known for its tropical climate, delicious street food, and a unique culture.
However, the country has seen a considerable amount of migration by teachers who have decided to trade the country for other teaching destinations like China, Japan, South Korea, etc. This suddened transition has been dubbed 'THE GREAT ESCAPE' by other expats in the Kingdom as the phenomenon is trending on popular teaching Job website ajarn.com
There are three main factors that's pushing away teachers from the country:
1. Low Salary: Salary is quite low as compared to other teach abroad destinations like Japan.
2. Loads of Paperwork: Teachers have lots of paperwork to complete such as:
-The Record of Work Book
-Salary Form
-Immigration Documents for Visa Extension
3. Annual Visa Run: Teachers are more likely to go on a visa run at the end of each year and this is quite costly. As such, most of the teachers are choosing other teach abroad destintions that offers flexible visa options.

Three ways to start and end your teaching week on a happy note.
Are you looking for ways to start and end your teaching week on a happy note? Look no further because here are three effective strategies you can adopt to make your week less stressful:
1. Planning in advance.
Plan for the week ahead the previous week. Look for a free period on your timetable on a day like Thursday or Friday when the week is coming to an end, plan your lessons for the week ahead by going through the task you intend to cover for the new week.
2. Make photocopies of the materials you need the week before. Print whatever teaching resources you may need and keep it for the coming week.
3. Organise your teaching materials.
Learn to organise your teaching materials in your office space. One way to do so is by making use of a Drawal that has five partitions with days of the week on it. Place the worksheets on corresponding days of the week and in order of your timetable.

5 Absurdities Teaching English in Thailand.
1. Little Assistance:
Its common to find yourself working with very little help in Thai schools. As a new teacher, its of advantage to anticipate this challenge and adapt to it.
2. No Fail Policy:
Thailand has a no fail policy whereby every teacher is expected to pass even the most stubborn student in class. This maybe difficult to comprehend but with time, you'll get use to it.
3. Popularity vs Skills:
Dont be surprise to see the school let go of more skillful teachers in favor of popular folks. The system cares more about social relationship than workplace skills.
4. Delayed Information:
Its quite common to receive information very late. Your team may pass information to you about upcoming events within 24 hours or less prior to the D-Day.
5. No Counsel:
Thais aren't comfrontational; that partly explains why they might never complain about the errors you are making in class. You have to observe your surroundings and adapt to the school's system in order to avoid making errors.
