Speaker's Biodata:
Lynne Bowker is Full Professor in the Department of Languages, Linguistics and Translation at Laval University, where she also holds the Canada Research Chair in Translation, Technologies and Society. Professor Bowker is also a certified French-to-English translator and a member of the Royal Society of Canada (Academy of Arts and Humanities). She serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including The Interpreter and Translator Trainer, the International Journal of Corpus Linguistics, and the International Journal of Lexicography. Her teaching and research interests lie at the intersection of translation and technology, and she is currently the director of the Machine Translation Literacy Project funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Her recent book publications include Machine Translation and Global Research (Emerald, 2019) and De-mystifying Translation (Routledge, 2023).
