I am honoured to have my image selected as one of the 24 images featured in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year under the “Nuveen People’s Choice Award” category. From more then 60,000 images in the competition.

At first glance, this image may appear to show a parent bird feeding its chick. However, that’s not the case. This moment captures a crane family returning to their nest in the evening to rest. The 10-day-old chick climbs onto the parent’s back. In this relaxed moment, the adult gently touches the chick with its beak and moves it slightly — it’s a gesture of bonding, a form of connection between the parent and its newborn.
This moment wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the staff at the Crane Conservation Center and the Thailand Sarus Crane Project in Buriram Province, who have worked tirelessly to reintroduce these cranes into the wild and enable them to thrive once again in Thailand’s natural habitats.
The photo is now open for voting at the Natural History Museum, London. Online voting will be available from 4 February to 18 March 2026.

เป็นเกียรติอย่างยิ่งที่ได้รับเลือกให้เป็น 1 ใน 24 รูป ของรายการ Wildlife Photographer of the Year 61 จาก 60,000 รูปที่ส่งเข้าแข่งขัน “Nuveen people of choice award” หรือเรียกง่ายๆก็คือ “Popular vote” นั่นเอง

รูปนี้อาจจะคล้ายกับการป้อนอาหารให้ลูกนกครับ แต่จริงๆไม่ใช่ จังหวะนี้เป็นจังหวะที่ครอบครัวนกกระเรียนกลับมานอนพักที่รังในช่วงเย็น ลูกอายุ 10 วัน ขึ้นนอนบนหลัง มันเป็นจังหวะที่นกผ่อนคลาย ทำให้นกกระเรียนเอาปากของตัวเองไปสัมผัสกับลูกน้อยและหมุนไปมาเล็กน้อย มันคือการ”เชื่อมความสัมพันธ์” ของพ่อแม่นกกับลูกนกที่พึ่งเกิด

เรื่องนี้จะเกิดขึ้นไม่ได้เลยถ้าไม่มีพี่ๆเจ้าหน้าที่ศูนย์อนุรักษ์นกกระเรียน และ Thailand Sarus Crane Project ที่จ.บุรีรัมย์ คอยดูแลนกจนสามารถกลับมามีชีวิตในธรรมชาติที่ประเทศไทยและได้เห็นโมเมนต์ดีๆแบบนี้
