Building Stronger Systems for Greater Impact

From 23–25 June 2026, Hlumisa participated in the VSO Capacity Building Workshop on Monitoring, Impact, Learning and Evaluation (MILE), held at The George Hotel.

Over three days, we strengthened our understanding of MILE systems and explored how evidence can be used to improve programme design, implementation, reporting, and decision-making. We also learned how continuous learning and adaptive programming help organisations respond effectively to changing community needs and maximise impact.

In addition, the workshop deepened our knowledge of advocacy—understanding the policy process, identifying key stakeholders, developing advocacy strategies, and using evidence to influence decision-makers and drive meaningful, community-centred change.

We are grateful to VSO for creating this valuable learning opportunity and for investing in the capacity of civil society organisations to deliver stronger, more accountable, and more impactful programmes.

From 9–10 June 2026, VSO brought together civil society organisations from Eswatini and Zambia for a Capacity Building Workshop on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), Communication, and Impact Documentation.

Through interactive discussions, presentations, and practical exercises, participants strengthened their understanding of the Theory of Change, indicators, outcomes, and impact measurement. The workshop also explored effective communication strategies and storytelling techniques to document and share community change.

By capturing stories, lessons, and evidence of impact, civil society organisations can better demonstrate results, influence change, and ensure that communities remain at the centre of development efforts.

Our latest Network & Chill was one for the books!

Together with Sunshine Cinema under Cospe-Swaziland CSA project , we screened Temperatures Rising, a powerful film that sparked meaningful conversations among young people about the realities of climate change across Southern Africa.

From sharing personal experiences in their communities and families to reflecting on the stories highlighted in the film, participants found many similarities in how climate change is affecting our lives. The discussions that followed explored the unfairness of these impacts and the need for collective action.

Most importantly, young people left feeling inspired, empowered, and even more motivated to engage in climate action. 🌍💚

Celebrating World Environment Day!

Today, Hlumisa proudly showcased youth-led climate action through awareness materials, paintings and pictures, composting demonstrations, and plants. It was inspiring to engage with young people from different schools and see their enthusiasm and willingness to be part of climate action and environmental stewardship.

We are proud to have provided a space where learners could explore practical and creative climate solutions while learning more about the role young people can play in building a sustainable future.

Thank you to the Municipal Council of Manzini and Etinyosini Koncepts for partnering with us in making the day a success. 💚🌱

Young people are not waiting for change — they are leading it. 🌍✨

Hlumisa Youth Climate Network was proud to co-organise and lead the EU Green Week Eswatini 2026 Launch under the theme, “Youth Leading Sustainability: Celebrating 50 Years of Partnership in Environmental Sustainability.”

From high-level engagements to the symbolic tree planting ceremony, the event reflected the power of meaningful youth inclusion in climate and sustainability spaces. Hlumisa’s Managing Director, Tamika Du-pont, served as Programme Director, while Hlumisa’s Programmes, Siphesihle Nyoni, led the presentation on LCOY Eswatini and youth climate engagement, showing that young people are not just beneficiaries, but implementers and drivers of climate action.

We appreciate the European Union, the Eswatini Environment Authority and the Mayor of Mbabane for intentionally creating space for youth leadership and ensuring young voices remain part of shaping Eswatini’s sustainability agenda. 💚Special thanks to Busiswa Dlamini for the incredible coordination and behind-the-scenes work that contributed greatly to the success of the event. 🌱
