PRESS RELEASE: INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY

As the world is celebrating the International Youth Day today 12 August, KICDO as a Youth organization would like to recognize this day and congratulate all the Youth for recognizing this historic and important day. It is generally known that the Youth in South Sudan are undergoing enormous and overwhelming challenges, including high rates of illiteracy, unemployment, harrassment, intimidation, random targeting, and other forms of physical, structural, and institutional violence. They youth are also reportedly deprived from their basic constitutional and international rights like freedom of association, assembly, expression, participation, and other basic rights and services. KICDO takes this opportunity to encourage the young people to embrace education and knowledge, promote unity and togetherness, maximize positive use of technology and media, embracing entrepreneurship, business and innovation. The organization also urges the government and security apparatus to provide a safe and secure environment for the young people to practice their developmental activities and contribute to the growth of this country. KICDO remains committed and dedicated to work in partnership with the Youth and other stakeholders to have a peaceful and prosperous South Sudan. Once again congratulations and happy international Youth day.
