On November 21, 2023 (Tue), “The Juba Clean City Project” of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment and Forestry has conducted an awarding ceremony of the drawing contest at Supiri Secondary School for the students who had participated in the contest. In this contest, 10 students of the 6 secondary schools (Comboni Secondary School, Shining Star Secondary School, Supiri Secondary School, St. Joseph Secondary School, Chinese Friendship Secondary School and New Apostolic Secondary School) participated and the students drew the paintings with the theme of “Clean and Green Juba”. The main purpose of this activity is to equip the students with necessary knowledge and skills that will explore their creative potential in creating a clean and conducive environment in Juba City.
This event has been conducted under the witness of Ministry of Environment and Forestry, State Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Forestry, Juba City Council, Embassy of Japan, JICA South Sudan Office and JICA Project Team, and each stakeholder selected the two best paintings drawn by the students from each school. And, a calendar of 2024 was made by incorporating the twelve selected paintings. Some prizes were presented to the students who drew the best drawings. A part of prizes was supported by KYOKUTO KAIHATSU KOGYO, which will procure waste collection vehicles under the Grant Aid project of JICA.

On 19th April 2023, the Juba Clean City Project in the Republic of South Sudan held a Second Joint Coordination Committee Meeting (JCC) at Grand Hotel Juba. The activity focus on solid waste management in Juba City Council, which includes the challenges and the way forward in the short and long term runs in the near future.
