"South Sudanese have passed tribulations and temptations, but never thought of eating frogs, dogs, or snakes," says Amb. Garang Deng Aguer
Ambassador Garang Deng Aguer, founder of the Reconciliation Ministry Church, has commented on recent remarks made by Senior Presidential Advisor Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk regarding South Sudanese eating frogs and dogs.
In a lengthy official statement issued on Thursday, Amb. Deng praised Gen. Kuol as an honest SPLM/A liberator who has long opposed corruption, dating back to the liberation struggle.
He alleged that Gen. Kuol had submitted several resignation letters in the past but was repeatedly persuaded behind closed doors not to leave the government.
However, Amb. Garang said there is a need to critically dissect Gen. Kuol’s recent remarks, arguing that South Sudanese have always been hardworking people, both at home and abroad.
He accused the government of failing to revive key national development projects that could create employment opportunities, including the Aweil Rice Scheme and Mangalla Sugar Scheme, among others.
Amb. Garang further cited the recent killings in Khor-Kaltan, where dozens of people lost their lives, as evidence of the hardworking nature of South Sudanese.
“Our people, South Sudanese people are hardworking people but the rampant insecurities that went out of the government control feared them to explore agricultural activities where the South Sudan's economics might lie,” part of the statement reads.
He called on the government to improve security and invest in productive sectors to enable citizens to contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic growth.
