Tuesday a young 31-year-old woman committed su***de, leaving behind two children whose lives will never be the same. My heart goes out to her family, her children, and everyone who loved her.
Her passing is a painful reminder that so many people silently carry burdens we cannot see. Around the world, hundreds of thousands of people die by su***de each year, and many more struggle with feelings of loneliness, hopelessness, being judged, misunderstood, or unheard. We may never know what battles someone is facing behind their smile.
Kindness costs nothing. A listening ear can mean everything. Before judging someone, choose compassion. Before assuming someone is "fine," take a moment to ask how they are really doing. Sometimes, simply being present for another person can make a difference.
If you are struggling, please know this: you do not have to carry your pain alone. Reach out to someone you trust. There are people who care, who will listen, and who want to help.
May this young mother rest in peace, and may her children be surrounded by love, strength, and support. Let her story remind us all to choose empathy over judgment, and connection over silence.
