AMNet - Advocacy Movement Network
07/02/2025
The All We Can/Y Care International communication team recently visited Pujehun District and Mafaray community in the Kambia District as part of our ongoing efforts to evaluate our structures and project's impact and share inspiring human-interest stories that highlighted the positive changes taking place in those communities.
This visit also serves to strengthen the partnership with our school's anti-FGM club and Peace Club members, fostering vital awareness and support within the community.
Together with our partners and the strong backing of our communities, we are committed to driving the change we envision.
As today marks international zero tolerance day on FGM/C, AMNet would like to remind Law Makers about their commitments towards the progressive realisation of children's right. Sierra Leone hasn't got a law that prohibit FGM/C for children. This years commemoration coincided with efforts made by child protection partners and The Ministry of Gender and Children Affairs to amend the child rights act of 2007. We want to plead to our esteem Law Makers, to show some love to the children of Sierra Leone by a way of supporting the Child rights bill which is a progressive bill that upholds and promote the rights of ALL Sierra Leone Children.
Furthermore, AMNet would like to call on Paramount Chiefs, Tribal Heads, Village Headmen to engage their constituencies on the importance of their girl child education. Our children need to be treated with dignity and respect that they deserve. As parents, caregivers and guardians we have the moral obligation to protect and care for our children. Female ge***al mutilation is a human rights abuse, in light of this the practice should be criminalise especially for girls under the age of eighteen years
