Border Tensions Rise as Guinean Soldiers Allegedly Enter Sierra Leone and Detain Security Officers

On Monday, 23rd February 2026, about 300 military personnel from the Republic of Guinea allegedly crossed into Sierra Leone at Kaliyereh Village in Falaba District, where they reportedly detained thirteen members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces and two officers of the Sierra Leone Police Operational Support Division, claiming the Sierra Leonean officers had encroached into Guinean territory. The incident has raised tension among residents, while no official statement has yet been issued by Sierra Leonean authorities.
