Today is a remarkable day set aside by the United Nations that celebrates and recognizes the significant contributions of domestic workers to the global economy.

The Sierra Leone Domestic Workers Organisation (SLeWoDU) is joining the globe to celebrate one of the most unrecognized but important labour groups in Sierra Leone. Amidst the enormous challenges faced by domestic workers and the impact of COVID-19, we have mobilized and organised as a Union and on the process of affiliating with the Sierra Leone Labour Congress (SLCC).

On this day, we are calling on the government and all stakeholders in Sierra Leone to ensure the following
1. Domestication of C189 (Decent work for domestic workers)
2. Provision of Social Security Scheme
3. Protection from all forms of abuses, exploitations, harassment and violation of national and migrant domestic workers.
