Jacob's Palace Košice, Slovakia
In 1899, Peter Jakab (builder and owner of a brick factory) built a palace in the pseudo-Gothic style near the mill drive - "Jakab's Palace". The stimulus and idea came from the Gothic architecture of St. Alžbety, during the reconstruction of which he obtained construction material. This fairy-tale palace entered the advertising and tourist terminology as "the idyll of Mlynský Jark". In 1945 (April - May) the building was the residence of the president of Czechoslovakia. Between 1992 and 2000, the building housed the British Council and was also used for important social events.
