This pattern imitates a mayfly at the very end of its life cycle — drifting lifeless in the surface film, with wings flat and a slender, motionless body. It’s a subtle stage, but an incredibly important one.

During these spinner falls, trout often shift behavior. Instead of chasing moving insects, they begin feeding with remarkable precision, focusing on insects trapped in the surface.
