The book "The Kurds and Kurdistan," published by the British Military Records Office in 1908 under number 598, consists of fifty pages.
It is divided into eight sections:
Section One: Kurdistan and the Kurds
Section Two: Kurdistan and its Borders
Southern Kurdistan
Northern Kurdistan
Section Three:
Kurdish Tribes
Kurds in Tur Abdin, Nusaybin, Van, and Upper Kurdistan
Section Four: Kurdish Tribes Outside Kurdistan
The report states the following about the geography of Kurdistan:
Kurdistan encompasses a vast area of mountainous land bordering the fertile plains of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to the north, stretching from Aleppo to Lake Urmia, and to the east from Lake Urmia across the Persian border at Mandali to Pisht-e Kuh. On the inner side of this semicircle, the state's borders almost always coincide with the margins of the low plains and the skirts of the mountain ranges. It could be argued that the Kurds control all the lands bordered by the plains to the south, stretching from Birecik, its westernmost point, northward beyond Malatya to Erzincan. From there, the border runs along a clearly defined line to the Aras River near Ararat, and from there follows a southward course, passing Lake Van to the northwestern corner of Lake Urmia. It then runs along the western shores of the lake, through Mandab to Khorsabad, and from there to Kermanshah. Finally, it curves eastward and strikes the Tigris plain at Mandali, on the Persian border, 90 miles east-northeast of Baghdad.
