We've participated in over 50 onboarding meetings over the years, and inevitably, there's always at least one point where we'll lose our clients when talking about the intricacies of a particular experience or design.
So, how do you combat that?
On our end (the agency) we need to do our best to avoid jargon speak in the first place. Simple terminology that is ubiquitous should always be the first choice. However, sometimes simple terminology just won't fit and you have to use a bit of industry jargon.
That's where some education on the client-side can become really helpful for pushing the conversation forward.
To aid our clients we surveyed our design and development team to drum up a list of terms they felt were important for clients to know. This list organizes terms based on the project stage (Research, Design/Prototyping, Development, Testing) and concisely explains what each means in a practical sense.
