Karin Bäckstrand, Principal Investigator of Transformative Partnerships 2030 and Professor of Environmental Social Science at Statsvetenskapliga institutionen at Stockholm University, was recently elected to the Swedish National Committee for Global Environmental Change within Kungl. Vetenskapsakademien!

"It is an honor to be elected to the Royal Swedish Academy's National Committee for Global Environmental Change," said Professor Bäckstrand. "I look forward to working across disciplines with colleagues from many disciplines to find common solutions to global environmental threats such as climate change and the impoverishment of biodiversity that are closely linked to global health and poverty reduction."

Transformative Partnerships 2030 at the ECOSOC Partnership Forum – Transformative Partnerships 2030 02/02/2022

A new survey on was presented at the 2022 ECOSOC Partnership Forum today. The survey was conducted and presented by Drs. Emily Clough and Graham Long of Newcastle University, and it included questions formulated by the Transformative Partnerships 2030 team, who were observing the Forum with great interest. Important new findings include:

🌎 83% of respondents said their partnerships pursued synergies between the SDGs with poverty, education, and climate action ranking the highest.
🌍 Only 26% of respondents saw tradeoffs between SDGs in their work, but SDG13 - climate change action - was the goal most frequently identified as involving tradeoffs.
🌎 The most serious challenge that multi-stakeholder partnership participants identified within partnerships was insufficient commitments from partners.
