To be able to survive and develop as a child with a transgender identity – they need…

- To be able to live fully as themselves.
- The right, the time and the freedom to explore their identity.
- Access to literature that they can identify with.
- Feeling they are normal and not alone.
- A supporting environment – both home and in school.
- Access to medical help and support:
both physically and emotionally.
- Access to a community with similar experiences.

In order to know what the best interest of the transgender child/children is, you need to know what their needs are.

From their family:

- To be loved unconditionally.

- To support them and help them – emotional and practical.

- You, the family, are the most important people in their lives!

From their school:

- A safe, inclusive and open environment.

- Being able to provide for the different practical needs.

- The teachers need to have basic transgender-knowledge.

- Respecting their pronouns and names.

From the Health care:

- Full access to medical support both physical and emotional.
