Magnesium is an alkaline earth metal and is the 9th most abundant element in the universe and in what might be surprising to some, is the 4th most abundant element on earth making up an incredible 13% of the planet's mass!

It only ever occurs naturally in combination with other elements as it is very reactive so the free metal itself has to be produced artificially.

As many might remember from chemistry class, it burns with a characteristic bright white light.

Magnesium has various application in cars, particularly in engines. It is also widely used for manufacturing of mobile phones, laptop and tablet computers, cameras, and other electronic components.
