Top drive Varco One of the most successful products designed and manufactured by National Oilwell Varco is Varco Top Drive Systems, which had a huge impact on the future development of the oil and gas industry. The Varco top drive is characterized by wider functionality and a number of advantages, including: group installation of pipes, which leads to a significant reduction in the time of the drill string arrangement; increased drive efficiency and increased swivel drive power; there are almost no cases of stuck drilling equipment; technical features of the system provide easier progress of the column in difficult areas; a significant reduction in injuries during drilling operations. For very long holes, the Varco top drive can be equipped with special software to avoid twisting of the drill string.

When rig equipped with top drive rotary hose will be connected to the goose neck, old top drive system allow actual rig swivel to engage to upper connection and it’s function to allow mud to flow will work same like a kelly rig, new top drive system have an integrated swivel with bails, goose neck, wash pipe, bearings and inner pipe that will allow pumping fluid while rotating and lowering lifting the drill string, also will be equipped with i-Bops hydraulic activated and manual option with a crank for manual open or close in case of emergency, god maintenance of the wash pipe is key to avoid any leaking while drilling operations.
