Blessed Friday Essentials: Authentic, concise, and doable. Save it, practice it, share it!!!

1. is the best day
“The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday.” (Sahih Muslim 854a).

2. Fajr on Friday: As-Sajdah (32) & Al-Insan/Ad-Dahr (76)
The Prophet ﷺ used to recite them in Friday Fajr. (Sahih Muslim 879–880).

3. Ghusl for those attending Jumuʿah
Strongly emphasized; reported with siwak & perfume. (Sahih Bukhari 880; also Tirmidhi 497).

4. Use miswak (tooth-stick)
Part of the Friday cleanliness package. (Sahih Bukhari 880).

5. Wear clean, good clothes & apply fragrance
Explicitly encouraged for Jumuʿah. (Sunan Abi Dawud 347; also Bukhari 883).

6. Go early, and if you can, go on foot
Early arrival carries special reward; walking is highlighted in Hasan reports. (Tirmidhi 496; explanation of conditions).

7. Try to be there before the imam arrives
When the imam comes out, the angels close their registers. (Sahih Bukhari 929–930).

8. Pray two rak‘ahs (Tahiyyat al-Masjid) before sitting
“When one of you enters the mosque, let him pray two rak‘ahs before sitting.” (Bukhari 1167; Muslim 714).

9. Sit close to the imam
Part of the “max-reward” Jumuʿah etiquette. (Tirmidhi 496).

10. Listen silently to the khutbah, no talking, no nudging
Even saying “be quiet” counts as idle speech. (Bukhari 934; Muslim 851).

11. Recommended recitations in Jumuʿah salah
Imam often recited Al-A‘la (87) & Al-Ghashiyah (88), or Al-Jumuʿah (62) & Al-Munafiqun (63). (Sahih Muslim 878–879).

12. Sunnah prayers after Jumuʿah
If praying in the masjid: four; if at home: two, both are reported from the Sahabah. (Abu Dawud 1130; scholarly summary).

13. Send abundant salawat on Friday
“Increase blessings upon me on the day and night of Friday.” (Sunan Abi Dawud 1047; graded sahih).

14. Recite Surah Al-Kahf
Virtues reported and graded authentic by scholars (Albani: Sahih al-Jami‘ 6470; also al-Hakim).

Bonus:

• Charity on Friday
Praised in an early report (athar) found in Musannaf ‘Abd al-Razzaq 5558 (a Companion/Tabi‘i statement, not a marfu‘ hadith).

• Midday nap (qaylulah)
The Prophet ﷺ practiced a midday rest in general; it’s good on Fridays too, but not restricted to this day. (Sahih Bukhari 940–941).
