đźź Dance Beyond the Stage | Tarama Rwanda.
Manzi MBAYA reminded us that dancers are not just performers — they are entrepreneurs, cultural ambassadors, and creators of economic value.
From Kigali to Lagos to Cape Town, Africa’s dance scene is booming. Today, dance videos trend globally on TikTok, Afrobeats and Amapiano choreography fill stadiums, and international artists seek African dancers to bring authenticity to their performances.
But here’s the bigger picture:
đźź Dance contributes to job creation across the value chain (choreography, costume design, content production, event performance).
🟠The global creative economy is worth over $2.2 trillion, and Africa is claiming its share — with dance being one of the most exportable cultural assets.
🟠In Rwanda, dance is not just heritage, it’s becoming an economic driver in festivals, events, and international collaborations.
Our participants left inspired not only to dance better but to think bigger, to build careers, create platforms, and shape an industry that could contribute millions to Rwanda’s GDP in the coming years.
At Tarama Rwanda, we considered dance as part of the masterclasses because it’s more than entertainment — it’s a bridge between culture and business, tradition and innovation, passion and sustainable income.
As said during the session: “Dance doesn’t end on stage. It begins there — but it should grow into business, impact, and legacy.”
Indeed, the future of African dance is not just movement, it’s a movement.
