Infection Prevention and Control Rwanda Organization-IPCRO
15/12/2025
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a growing public health threat. At the IPCRO-organized AMR Symposium, policymakers, researchers, academia, development partners, and the private sector came together to advance Rwanda’s One Health approach.
Prof. Claude Mambo Muvunyi, DG of Rwanda Biomedical Centre, emphasized the need to move from discussion to concrete actions in healthcare facilities, communities, and across sectors.
Candide Tran Ngoc (WHO) highlighted Rwanda’s progress on the National Action Plan on AMR, including surveillance, technical guidance, and workforce training, while stressing sustainable financing and measurable impact.
Speakers from REMA, UGHE, Pfizer, and the health sector underscored the role of environment, research, innovation, workforce development, and equitable access to medicines.
Closing the symposium, Dr. Jean Jacques Irakiza (IPCRO) called for strong cross-sector collaboration.
The message is clear: AMR demands action—now. Together.
