: "Shiramanga / Be Bold"

đŸ§˜đŸŸâ€â™‚ïž Reflection đŸ§˜đŸŸâ€â™‚ïž

This image reminds me of Nelson Mandela’s words: “Courage isn’t the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.” These words echo deeply when I think about the boldness we all carry inside, especially when times are tough.

Courage is that quiet power within us—the strength that allows us to stand tall, lift our eyes, and move forward. It may not solve every challenge, but it opens the door to possibilities, guiding us through whatever lies ahead. It’s not about denying fear or struggle; it’s about knowing that boldness and action are choices we can always make, no matter the circumstance.

🌿 What if the next time you faced a challenge, you chose to trust in your courage? What if you allowed yourself to step forward believing that boldness is always an option? There’s power in that choice that can shape how we navigate the hardest times.

💬 Your Thoughts:

When was the last time you chose boldness in the face of uncertainty? How did it shape the outcome? Share your story below, or tag someone who might need this reminder that boldness is within reach.

"Photography" originates from the Greek words phƍs (light) and graphĂȘ (drawing), meaning quite literally, "drawing with light."

In 2021, I set out to do just that—to "draw" the story of my life with light. This journey resulted in the self-published book BAHO (link in bio) and countless other photographs that didn't make it into the final collection. This upcoming series of self-portraits includes some of those images—moments that deeply resonated with me and reflect different versions of myself through time.

A little about BAHO, the project, and the book from which these portraits evolved:
“Baho,
Humeka,
Rangurura ijwi,
Kuko, mwana wanjye,
Uriho
”
Through this work, I explore my life’s journey—the highs and the lows—capturing emotions like anticipation, anxiety, fear, courage, triumph, and surrender, often felt during moments of transformation. I hope these images will inspire you to reflect on your journey and remember that there's always light—both ahead and within.

In the coming posts, I'll share these portraits alongside my reflections.

I’d love to hear your thoughts—what light have you found in your journey? Which emotions resonate with you the most when you reflect on moments of change?

Feel free to drop a comment with your thoughts, and if this resonates with you, share this post with someone who might appreciate this journey.
