The New Normal
12/07/2021
Geoff Manaugh and Nicola Twilley return to the Strelka Institute for a virtual launch of their new book, "Until Proven Safe: The History and Future of Quarantine." Since their visit to Moscow in August 2019 to discuss the spatial politics of quarantine, the world has been plunged into a pandemic with, at one point, more than half the world's human population in some state of quarantine or lockdown. Now, with the publication of their book, Manaugh and Twilley will join us again to look at some of the implications of COVID-19, from ethics to architecture, as well as to explore the future of quarantine—on the Earth and beyond. The event is free and will be followed by a discussion with Benjamin Bratton, Program Director of The Terraforming at the Strelka Institute.
Designer and strategist Ben Cerveny elaborates on the changes in architecture when everything becomes a platform and software migrates from the mutual devices into space around us.
