Recently, data analytics company Canalys has evaluated the situation in the information security market. It turned out that the number of security crimes in 2020 prevailed the total amount of successful attacks in the previous 15 years❗

Several high-profile companies went bankrupt because of ransomware attacks in 2020. The hackers mainly targeted healthcare organisations due to the global pandemic.
The organisations that had survived had to implement security strengthening solutions instantly. However, such quick decisions may lead to the emergence of new vulnerabilities in the information security system, and consequently, they may be exploited by attackers. According to forecasts by Canalys, the revenues lost may reach 101 billion dollars by 2025, which will be five times more than the share of all other crimes globally 💻

Therefore, cyber security must get the highest priority in the business strategy of any organisation.

It may seem that governmental organizations have the highest level of information security and are not afraid of hacker attacks. In fact, this is far from being true 🤔

Even state institutions can be victims of hackers. In April 2021, Washington's Metropolitan Police Department was hacked by a cybercriminal gang called Babuk. They breached the security system and stole confidential data. The criminals announced it on the darknet and posted screenshots to prove the success of the attack ❗

As a result of failed negotiations, the ransomware gang published extensive information about 22 former and current police officers in May of this year.
It is also known that at the beginning of 2021, Babuk attacked the Houston Rockets basketball team. The cybercriminals claimed to have accessed sensitive data, including player contracts and financial data.
