Yesterday, two of our members were in Zagreb, to attend the final conference of the SEED2STEM – Planting the Future of Education project.

It was one of those moments when you look back and realise how much has been built, step by step, from an idea that felt ambitious from the very beginning: bringing agriculture, technology, STEM education and youth work closer together.

SEED2STEM was a complex project, with many stages, discussions, tests, adjustments and concrete results. Through this project, we tried to bring formal education closer to non-formal education and to show that agriculture can be a modern learning space, where young people can discover technology, sensors, data, educational games and sustainable solutions in a practical and accessible way.

We are proud to have brought this project to its final stage, and even more proud of the results developed together: the AGRO-STEM platform, the AGRO-STEM curriculum, the IoT curriculum and the two educational games that make learning clearer, more interactive and closer to young people.

For ARYAS, this project also had a strong connection with the way we try to work. We have always aimed to give our activities a practical approach, to move beyond theory and create learning experiences that young people can actually understand, test and use. Through SEED2STEM, we came closer to this direction by connecting sustainability, agriculture and technology through concrete tools and activities. At the same time, we know this project is only the beginning of bringing STEM more clearly into our work.

Thank you to all partners for the work, commitment and shared effort throughout this journey. Some projects do not really end on the day of the final conference. We hope SEED2STEM to be one of those that will continue through the resources created, through the people who will use them and through the ideas that move forward.

Looking back on the Erasmus+ EYES Professional Development Activity we attended in Palermo, we wanted to share a few key reflections that stayed with us as a team.

This project brought together youth workers from across Europe to explore one of the most relevant issues of our time: surveillance, digital control, and the ways they shape our rights, behaviours, and communities. We are grateful to have been part of this intercultural exchange, not only for the knowledge we gained, but also for the connections we built, the solidarity we felt, and the shared interest in building safer and more aware communities.

So what have we taken home as youth workers?

First, a clearer understanding of how surveillance operates in both digital and physical spaces, together with tools that can help us recognise and question control mechanisms that often become normalised. Throughout this Erasmus+ activity, we explored creative educational methods such as visual mapping, forum theatre, collage making, and storytelling, which we can use to raise awareness in our own communities. Through this process, we strengthened our skills in critical thinking, facilitation, and cross-border cooperation, while reflecting on our responsibility to support young people in navigating a world shaped by data, algorithms, and power structures.

From tracing the layered histories of control present in Palermo’s streets to discussing securitisation, from sharing cultures during the intercultural evening to designing awareness-raising actions together, this experience expanded the way we understand our role in youth work. It reminded us that awareness is not passive. Youth work can create spaces where young people learn to recognise, question, and respond to oppressive forms of technological and physical surveillance in public spaces.

We are grateful to our facilitators, Stella Brook Young and Eliade Renda, for guiding us through these complex themes using frameworks that were both academically rigorous and connected to real social contexts. Ideea proiectului este de a aduce împreună 21 de lucrători de tineret din 7 țări pentru a găsi modalități mai bune de a lucra cu tinerii din generațiile de astăzi. Generația Z și Generația Alpha au moduri diferite de a comunica, de a învăța și de a se implica în activități, iar lucrătorii de tineret trebuie să își adapteze metodele pentru a răspunde acestor schimbări.
Proiectul oferă participanților instrumente practice, metode noi și idei pe care le pot folosi direct în activitatea lor. Accentul nu este pus pe schimbarea a ceea ce funcționează deja, ci pe găsirea unor moduri mai eficiente de a aplica metodele existente. Cu alte cuvinte, proiectul se concentrează pe „cum” lucrăm cu tinerii, nu pe „ce” facem.
Prin activități practice, schimb de experiență și colaborare internațională, participanții vor învăța unii de la alții și vor descoperi noi modalități de a implica și motiva tinerii. La finalul proiectului, aceștia vor fi mai bine pregătiți să creeze activități atractive și să răspundă nevoilor noilor generații.

Căutăm 7 participanți motivați pentru a participa la schimbul de tineri "The Secret Garden''!
Ideea proiectului este de a reconecta tinerii cu natura prin experiențe directe de învățare în aer liber. Într-o perioadă în care mulți tineri află despre problemele de mediu mai ales din mediul online, din școală sau din campanii de informare, contactul direct cu natura devine tot mai redus. Acest lucru poate crea o distanță între cunoștințele teoretice despre protecția mediului și dezvoltarea unei relații personale cu lumea naturală.
Prin acest schimb de tineri, participanții vor avea oportunitatea de a descoperi natura într-un mod activ, prin activități de explorare, observație, drumeții, jocuri și ateliere creative desfășurate în aer liber. Proiectul urmărește să îi ajute să dezvolte o legătură mai puternică cu mediul înconjurător, să înțeleagă mai bine importanța biodiversității și a comportamentelor sustenabile și să își consolideze competențe precum cooperarea, creativitatea și responsabilitatea. Astfel, tinerii vor deveni mai conștienți de rolul lor în protejarea naturii și mai implicați în adoptarea unor obiceiuri prietenoase cu mediul.
