At the end of our filming residency, we met Marlene who shared with us her knowledge of ancestral medicine and the way it continues to guide her everyday life, being in a constant interconnection with nature.
During our conversation, she spoke about guayusa ceremonies, which begin before dawn and create a space for communication, dreams and collective reflection - as one of the most important moments that keep families together, where one shares dreams, projects, ideas or problems in order to find solutions together.
She taught us about plant medicines used for physical pain, stomach ailments, and fever, and how her wellbeing in old age comes from living in connection with her ancestors and with Pacha Mama, and through a constant process of thinking and planning ahead.
Together with her son Roberto, she chose tourism as a way of compartir, to share this knowledge with others.
