We are looking for experienced Fibre Splicers and other experienced engineers for long-term contract work in and around the Midlands, with some work varying nationwide.
Key Duties: -
• Operation of optical fibre splicer and production of accurate test results.
• Installation of optical fibre cable, bundles and blown fibre tubing using fibre blowing equipment to required standards, including fault finding on existing network.
• Splicing and testing of external optical fibres to the end customer premise in line with time and quality standards.
• Typical work types include blown fibre bundles from node to DSLAM and splicing.
Ideally we are looking for candidates that have experience working with design schematics, duct diagrams and works instructions and also:
• Preferably hold existing BT accreditations or have previous BT experience.
• Ability to work in varying field environments.
• Ability to produce, update and interpret records of daily work logs, data recordings and network design maps.
• Adhere to all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental policies.
• Hold or have previously held NRSWA Streetworks Card, CSCS Card, Confined Space
• Training, BT Accreditations; A8, A9, J1, J4, N8, N9, N15, N16,
• Accreditation in underground working desirable.

• Reporting to supervisor, Field Manager or Depot Manager on contract progress and completion
• Complete general risk assessment prior to commencement of each task on site and record in site diary.
• Maintain adequate and in-date personal protective equipment sufficient for all tasks undertaken and ensure that it is used as required at all times.
• Manage all issued tooling and test equipment in line with published processes to ensure that fit for purpose, calibrated and PAT tested tooling and test equipment is available as appropriate to complete all assigned tasks.

• Holder of driving license C and able to manipulate a crane on a truck for positioning of the poles;to operate a truck with a lift to work on altitudes in a safe way in open air
• And/or able to manipulate poles for light tension with a crane from a truck
• To place electricity poles for lightening and to remove poles, put cables and connect the poles to the electricity network
• To place low tension poles or to remove poles and to draw cables
• Being able to use personal protection equipment and to report unsafe situations
• To be able to identify problems in electricity networks
• To work on low tensions and medium tension networks
• To execute electricity works in open air and in buildings on an independent basis
• To do the placement of cables for the extension, service and maintenance of large network operators (television distribution cables, etc.)
• To dig holes for positioning the poles.
