At DataCenter Forum by Tema Energy, Sorin Andone, our Managing Director, joined the panel discussion “The Role of a National Data Center Association: Impact, Advocacy & Market Growth”, moderated by Venessa Moffat, alongside Lecanu Bernard, Cosmin Georgescu and Mihai Manole, in a conversation on the development of Romania’s digital infrastructure ecosystem and the initiative to establish the Romanian Data Center Association.

One of the key messages highlighted during the discussion was that sustainable growth in the data center industry cannot happen in isolation. As critical infrastructure powering digital economies and enabling long-term development, progress depends on collaboration between the industry, authorities and investors.

Sorin emphasized the importance of transforming industry perspectives into coherent policies, simplifying the interaction with authorities and strengthening Romania’s credibility as a regional destination for digital infrastructure investments.

The panel also highlighted the role of the future Romanian Data Center Association in creating a unified industry voice, supporting dialogue with authorities, promoting Romania internationally and contributing to the long-term development of the local digital economy.

As Romania continues to accelerate digitalization through both public and private initiatives, as well as European-supported programs, the opportunity to attract hyperscalers, cloud platforms and AI-driven infrastructure becomes increasingly significant.

As one of Romania's first independent data center operators and the anchor of a major carrier-neutral interconnection hub in Southeastern Europe, NXDATA has been part of the industry’s foundation for over two decades. Our role today remains what it has always been, enabling connectivity, supporting digital infrastructure growth, and maintaining a neutral, open ecosystem for networks, ISPs, cloud providers, CDNs, content platforms, and enterprises.

These same principles are also the foundation for our next facility, NXDATA-3, a 5 MW data center designed to support high-density AI workloads, on track for completion by the end of 2026.
