We were delighted to host the eBio-Hub Summer School, organized by the eBio-Hub Centre of Excellence in Bioengineering, an interdisciplinary event dedicated to the latest advances in bioengineering, cell biology, and translational medicine.

Over the course of two days, researchers, students, clinicians, and industry representatives came together to explore innovative approaches that connect fundamental scientific research and real-world clinical applications. The program featured keynote and plenary lectures delivered by distinguished experts from academia and industry, covering topics such as advanced cell-based therapies, regenerative technologies, biomaterials, and current challenges in translational medicine.

A highlight of the event was the plenary lecture delivered by Prof. Charlotte Hauser on “Sustainable Regeneration for Health and the Environment Using Soft and Hard Materials”, which provided valuable insights into the development of innovative biomaterials and sustainable regenerative strategies. Participants also took part in hands-on workshops focused on modern techniques for the analysis and characterization of cell cultures, gaining practical experience with laboratory methods and experimental approaches currently used in regenerative medicine and bioengineering research.

Beyond the scientific program, the eBio-hub Summer School created an excellent environment for networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange between young researchers, academic experts, and industry professionals, further strengthening the connections that drive biomedical innovation forward. We were happy to welcome the visit of the delegation from the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, led by Prof. Alberto Sapora, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, and Prof. Gianmario Pellegrino, Vice-Rector for Technology Transfer, as part of the Romania tour for strengthening cooperation between our countries.

We had the opportunity to showcase some of our advanced research and development labs as well as of the developed technologies, including the GEOspatial and Smart SENSors for Environmental Applications Research Lab focusing on Earth Observation analytics using satellite and UAV imagery, sensor networks and IoT platforms for in-situ environmental monitoring, Artificial Intelligence and machine learning for geospatial data analysis, coordinated by Prof. Daniela Faur & Prof. Dragos Ioan Sacaleanu, the Smart and Autonomous Systems Lab focusing on developing and testing intelligent propulsion systems, control architectures, and software ecosystems dedicated to unmanned aerial platforms (UAVs), coordinated by Prof. Grigore Cican, the National Center for Micro and Nanomaterials focusing on functional analysis, biological assessment, micro- and nanomaterials, electron microscopy and structural analysis, represented by Dr. Bogdan Vasile, and Students2SPACE lab dedicated to promoting the space industry among students through a hands-on approach, coordinated by Cătălin Chelmuș.

The meeting provided an excellent framework for discussing potential areas of collaboration in research, innovation, technology transfer, and international academic cooperation. It also highlighted the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing scientific excellence.

Through such exchanges, we continue to strengthen international partnerships, encourage the sharing of knowledge and expertise, and support the development of impactful solutions to global challenges. Universitatea POLITEHNICA din București
