Many people who have Hashimoto's also have autoimmune reactivity occurring in other tissues in the body.

One of the most common sites of secondary autoimmune attacks is an area of the brain called the cerebellum.

The cerebellum is n the back of the brain and is involved with coordinating muscle smoothness and helping with balance and stability.

The TPO antibodies that are the primary marker for Hashimoto’s can also bind to cerebellum tissue, triggering autoimmunity in the brain.

This causes symptoms such as poor balance, instability, vertigo, worsened car sickness or sea sickness, and nausea in response to movement.

Other symptoms include sound and light sensitivity, anxiety in crowded places, and general anxiety. This is because the cerebellum plays a role in gating information to the brain, which declines when it’s under autoimmune attack.
