Laye Thioune (born in Dakar, Senegal) is a visual artist whose practice explores memory, identity, and the complexity of the human experience. A graduate of the École Nationale des Arts in Dakar, where he finished top of his class in 2020, he has developed a distinctive painterly language rooted in observation, emotion, and the subtle tension between appearance and inner reality.

His paintings are inhabited by solitary figures and quiet encounters, rendered through vibrant colours and layered surfaces. Moving between presence and absence, intimacy and distance, his works reflect on what remains when certainty dissolves, revealing the fragile yet enduring connections that shape our shared humanity.

Maria Balea (born in Feleacu, Cluj County, Romania) is a visual artist based in Arad. She graduated from the “Ion Andreescu” Academy of Visual Arts in Cluj-Napoca in 1994, specializing in Graphic Arts under the guidance of Professor Ioachim Nica. Since 1999, she has been a member of the Romanian Union of Fine Artists – Arad Branch.

Her artistic practice is rooted in painting and abstract exploration, investigating the relationship between space, time, and memory. Through carefully structured compositions that balance geometric order with expressive gesture, she creates layered visual worlds where emotion, memory, and imagination converge into a powerful visual language.

Maria Balea has exhibited extensively in Romania and abroad, participating in exhibitions, biennials, and international art projects across Europe and Asia. Her work has received important distinctions, including the Romanian Union of Fine Artists Painting Award (2014), First Prize at Atelier an der Donau in Austria (2014), and the Diploma of Merit at the International Art Biennale in Rome (2018).

Based in Vienna, Ibrahim Barghoud is a Syrian visual artist whose practice focuses on painting and the expressive power of the human figure. His work explores themes of war, exile, loss, and identity, transforming personal and collective experiences into a universal visual language.

The series “Numbers without names” reflects on the human condition through fragmented faces and emotionally charged compositions. Suspended between figuration and abstraction, these works evoke memory, displacement, and resilience, inviting viewers to contemplate what remains after loss.

Rather than depicting individuals, Barghoud's figures become symbols of shared experience — carrying the weight of history while speaking of hope, dignity, and the enduring search for belonging.

Based in Vienna, Sahf Abdulrahman is a Syrian visual artist whose practice spans painting and scenography. Active since the early 1990s, he has exhibited widely across Syria and Europe, developing a distinctive visual language rooted in memory, absence, and transformation.

The series “Perhaps Someone Is Here” explores the fragile space between presence and disappearance. Faces emerge, dissolve, and recompose themselves through layered textures and gestures, suggesting identity not as something fixed, but as something shifting and unstable.

Rather than portraits, these works become traces — fragments of memory suspended between what is seen and what persists.
