From Level 0 (no automation) to Level 5 (full autonomy), each stage represents a shift in how responsibility moves from driver to machine.

At the lower levels, systems assist with tasks like braking, steering, and cruise control — but the driver remains fully in charge. As you move up, vehicles begin to handle multiple functions simultaneously, with Level 3 introducing conditional automation where the car can make decisions in certain environments.

By Level 4, vehicles can operate independently in defined conditions with minimal human input. And at Level 5, the vision is complete autonomy — no driver, no steering wheel, just fully self-driving systems.

The journey from L0 to L5 isn’t just about technology — it’s about safety, regulation, infrastructure, and trust.
