You can keep using Windows 10 after October 14, 2025—but it won’t be supported unless you take action. Microsoft is offering a lifeline called the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, which lets you continue receiving critical security patches for up to three more years. Here's how it works:

🛡️ What Is the ESU Program?
- It’s a paid subscription that provides security updates only—no new features or bug fixes. (in most cases there is no cost but the cost is small)
- Available to individuals, businesses, and organizations.
- You must be running Windows 10 version 22H2 to qualify.
💡 Options for Consumers
Microsoft is offering three ways to enroll for one extra year of updates (through October 2026):

To enroll:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update.
- Look for “Enroll in Extended Security Updates”.
- Choose your preferred method and follow the prompts.
If you don’t see the “Enroll now” option yet, Microsoft is rolling it out gradually. Make sure your system is fully updated.

🧠 What Happens If You Don’t Enroll?
- Your PC will still work, but you won’t get security updates, making it vulnerable to malware and exploits.
- Microsoft Defender Antivirus will continue receiving updates until October 2028, but that’s not enough for full protection.
