Patient Innovation

has officially kicked off!

HealthInnovAI is a Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT)-funded project exploring how Generative AI can strengthen innovation capabilities in healthcare, with a particular focus on user-driven healthcare innovation. The project will look at the role AI can play in the democratization of innovation, helping lower barriers for patients and caregivers to participate more actively in innovation processes. The overall goal is to make patient innovation more visible, easier to access, and better integrated into health innovation ecosystems.

The project brings together a consortium led by Nova SBE, in partnership with NOVA Medical School - Faculdade de Ciências Médicas, Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS and Patient Innovation

Over the next months, HealthInnovAI will attempt to:

• Mobilize user innovation in healthcare
• Empower patients and caregivers through technology and innovation capacity-building
• Influence the way patient agency is integrated into healthcare innovation, beyond the role of end-users.

Today marks the end of President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s mandate.

From the early days of Patient Innovation, when the project was still largely unknown and taking its first steps, President Marcelo showed meaningful support for our initiative. His presence and recognition in those initial moments helped bring visibility to the importance of solutions developed by patients.

As his mandate comes to an end, Patient Innovation would like to express its sincere appreciation for the attention and recognition he gave to our project over the years.

📘 Ontem foi lançado, na livraria UCP, o livro 𝘈 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘻 𝘦 𝘢 𝘗𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘤̧𝘢̃𝘰 𝘈𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢

Uma obra que cruza ciência, prática clínica e testemunhos pessoais para dar voz à realidade da surdez, refletindo o encontro entre conhecimento académico e ação social.

Ao longo de cinco capítulos, especialistas nacionais e internacionais abordam os fundamentos da surdez, as soluções clínicas e tecnológicas, o impacto psicossocial, os desafios da inclusão e as perspetivas futuras. Os testemunhos integrados acrescentam uma dimensão humana ao conhecimento científico.

Mais do que um manual, o livro convida a repensar a surdez como parte da diversidade humana, promovendo inclusão e participação plena na sociedade.

Coordenado por Helena Caria, o livro conta com contributos de especialistas de reconhecido mérito a nível nacional e internacional.
