Due to unforeseen events beyond our control, we have to move today's Contagious concert to tomorrow.
After his brilliant opening concert on Thursday, we are delighted to present Raphael Roginski once again — this time, however, for the first time, as a premiere in a duo together with David Grubbs.
Thanks for your understanding, your MADEIRADIG team ❤️

After he played a wonderful concert at the Kiezsalon in Berlin earlier this month, we are looking forward to the Ukrainian sound artist Heinali. He will be playing alongside Bendik Giske on Friday evening at the MADEIRADIG main stage.
In his core practice Oleh Shpudeiko reimagines medieval music with a modular synthesiser, an instrument informed from artistic research to improvise polyphony and monophony.
Reconstructing Kyiv, One Synth Wave at a Time (Published 2023) “Kyiv Eternal,” by the composer and sound artist Heinali (real name Oleh Shpudeiko), submerges listeners in the sounds of the prewar Ukrainian capital.

Brìghde Chaimbeul is a leading purveyor of Celtic experimentalism and a master of the Scottish smallpipe. A native Gaelic speaker, Brìghde roots her music in her language and culture. After rising to prominence as a prodigy of traditional music, she has since taken the smallpipes into uncharted territory.
She closes MADEIRADiG 2024 at the John Dos Passos Cultural Center in Ponta do Sol on Monday, December 3. Admission is free of charge.

Described by The Quietus as “one of the most adventurous, uncompromising and thoughtful figures on the experimental side of American composition,” guitarist, composer and professor David Grubbs is known for traversing artistic communities.
Moving from the 1980s hardcore punk scene into academia, Grubbs boasts a colourful career and a discography to match. Catch him at MADEIRADiG 2024.
